how to ace job interview questions: part 1
Last week we talked about how to prevent yourself in an interview. Here is a brief recap:
- Be early
- Dress professionally
- Bring a portfolio (or at least a pad of paper and a pen to take notes-- it shows you care)
- Make direct eye contact
- Shake hands firmly (but no death grip :)
- Non-verbal communication
- Body language
- Distance from other person
- Stance/posture
- Hand gestures
- Facial expressions
- Para-verbal communication ("it's not what you said, it's how you said it")
- Volume
- Speed/pace
- Tone
- Pauses
- Verbal communication
- The words you use only account for 5% of the other person's overall impression of you!
